Biography

Giannis Vogiatzis is a Greek theatre and film actor known for his extensive work in comedy across stage, radio, film, and television. He trained at the National Theatre Drama School alongside Irene Papas, Alekos Alexandrakis, and Anna Synodinou. He made his stage debut in 1955 at the Dionysia Theatre in William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. Vogiatzis gained widespread recognition for his film role as Mikes in Mikes Is Getting Married (1968) and as Lalakis in radio and cinema. He appeared in 68 films, primarily comedies and farces, with notable performances in My Wife Went Crazy (1966), An Italian from Kipseli (1968), Dis diefthyntis (1964), and O Klearhos, i Marina kai o kontos (1961). His comic talent also made him a familiar presence on television in shows like I geitonia mas (1972). Over the years, he collaborated with numerous theatre companies, sometimes as troupe leader, establishing himself as a beloved figure in Greek entertainment. He is a cousin and namesake of fellow actor and singer Giannis Vogiatzis.
