Biography

Louis Vervoort was a Belgian actor. He became the very first actor with dwarfism on Flemish television and appeared in quite a few well-known series.

Vervoort also had a passion for opera and was frequently invited by opera companies in Belgium and abroad for guest appearances.

His last TV appearance dates back to 2009, when he appeared in the program 'De jaren stillekes' (a program that looked back at TV broadcasts from the past). He was honored in that program for his rich television career and received a copy of the puppet of Knudde, the character he played, as a memento. That tribute created a beautiful emotional moment at the time.

Louis Vervoort has also acted in French-language films; the last one was "Saint-Germain ou La négociation" (2003).

He started his career as an administrative assistant at a port company, but by chance, in 1961, he ended up on the TV set of 'De Ordonnans' or 'Café zonder bier' for a small guest role alongside Bobbejaan Schoepen. He enjoyed it so much that he quit his job and opted for an acting career. Colleague Ward De Ravet, known from 'Slissen en Cesar' among others, helped him obtain the professional license required to act. Something for which he remained grateful to De Ravet forever.
