  • His first name is said to have inspired cartoonist Willy Vandersteen to create the character Jerom in the Suske en Wiske (Spike and Suzy) series.
  • Verten was not only an author but also the operator of Argusfilms. He also wrote the scripts for the films he produced, including De Wonderdokter (1936) and Het Geluk komt Morgen (1958). He was also the author of several humorous novels such as "Het gaat ons goed", "Wij waren geen helden", "Wat doen we met de liefde?" (filmed in 1957) and "De rode pruik".
  • Jeroom Verten was the pseudonym of the Flemish playwright Frans Pieter Jozef (Jef) Vermetten.
