  • Studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique, class of 1954. The "Conservatoire gang", also called "Bébel's gang", is a group of French actors , almost all students of the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique in Paris , formed in the early 1950s. This informal troupe brings together some of the biggest names in French theatre and cinema, including, among the most famous, Jean-Paul Belmondo ( aka Bébel), Annie Girardot, Françoise Fabian, Guy Bedos, Bruno Cremer, Jean-Pierre Marielle, Jean-Pierre Mocky, Claude Rich, Jean Rochefort, Philippe Noiret, etc.
  • Vernier repeatedly worked with Claude Chabrol, Henri Verneuil and Claude Lelouch, Georges Lautner and Jacques Deray.
  • He became famous thanks to his first role in the television series Rocambole broadcast in 1964 on French television .
  • After the death of Jean-Paul Belmondo, he was, along with Françoise Fabian, one of the last two survivors of the famous "Conservatoire gang" who left their mark on French cinema and theatre from the 1950s onwards .
  • Played Charles de Gaulle in a 2008 TV movie.
