Following graduation, he worked with Karagiannis-Karatzopoulos and other producers, building a steady presence in Greek cinema and theater alongside many of the country's established performers. His stage work included productions of "Volpone", directed by Minos Volanakis, "The Mousetrap", and "Captain Michael", among others. Verlekis became widely known on Greek television through series including O Patouhas (1984), I poli (1990), and Tis agapis mahairia (2006), and went on to appear in dozens of television productions. He also worked internationally, appearing in the British television drama Who Pays the Ferryman? (1977) and the horror film The Devil's Men (1976) alongside Donald Pleasence and Peter Cushing. In addition to acting, he developed a parallel career as a documentary director for ERT, directing numerous documentaries, while remaining active in cultural affairs and arts-related public service.
