- In 1998 Vennamo became the CEO of Sonera plc (formerly know as Telecom Finland). Because of some irregularities concerning the IPO (initial public offering) of Sonera late 1998, in which Vennamo had a favoured position which he alledgedly used to sell Sonera-stock to his children, he was fired in January 1999.
- Pekka Vennamo is not a professional actor but was a politician in the eighties. He was both a member of the Finnish Parliament and a minister. He was (1998) the CEO of the Finnish Postal Service.
- Led the SMP from 1979 to 1989. In the 1980s, he served as Minister of Transport and Communications, among other things.
- Became a member of parliament in 1972.
