Simon Vaughan is a British film and television producer and executive, known for his work on high-end scripted drama in the UK and internationally. Over four decades, Simon has founded or led a series of companies that have delivered many of the Uk’s most ambitious international dramas working with broadcasters and studios including the BBC, HBO, Disney+, Amazon and Fox Searchlight. Viewed collectively, there has been an emphasis on prestige IP, iconic literary titles and innovative production values.
Throughout his career Vaughan executive produced several acclaimed series, including Titanic (2012) written by Julian Fellowes; Andrew Davies’ adaptations of War and Peace (2016) and Les Misérables (2018) for BBC One; Ripper Street (2012-2016), which ran for five seasons across the BBC and Amazon; Parade’s End (2012) for the BBC and HBO starring Benedict Cumberbatch; and Mike Bartlett’s Press (2018) for BBC One and PBS.
In 2017, Vaughan co-wrote and executive-produced the feature film Goodbye Christopher Robin (2017) for Fox Searchlight, starring Margot Robbie and Domhnall Gleeson.
In 2021, Vaughan co-founded The Story Collective, a global content studio backed by Fifth Season, where he serves as Co-Chair. Recent projects include Your Christmas or Mine 2 (2023) and Steven Knight’s A Thousand Blows for Disney+. He is also CEO and co-founder of Story Works Studios, a film and television studio complex in South West London, providing full-service production facilities and creative support for high-end scripted projects.
