Evelyn Varden was born on June 12, 1893 in Adair, Oklahoma, USA. She was an actress, known for The Night of the Hunter (1955), The Bad Seed (1956) and Pinky (1949). She was married to William J. Quinn and Charles Coleman. She died on July 11, 1958 in New York City, New York, USA.

Plain, pleasant-mannered, plump-framed American character actress, a veteran of stage and radio, who didn't appear in films until late in life, showing up amusingly as talkative neighbors and absent-minded matrons.

Recreated her 1954 Broadway role for film as gabby Monica Breedlove, the landlady, in the cult classic The Bad Seed (1956). Also on Broadway played Mrs. Gibbs in "Our Town" (1938) and the Nurse to Olivia de Havilland's Juliet in "Romeo and Juliet" (1951).
