Biography

Lukas Vandervost was a champion of the New Theatre, a theatrical form from the 1980s that questioned realistic theatre. In Vandervost's productions and in *De Tijd*, this rejection was achieved, among other things, by employing language as an aesthetic element through playing with rhythm, tone, and sound. Feedback.

He was one of Dora van der Groen's first students and graduated from the Herman Teirlinck Institute, then known as the Antwerp Conservatory (Dora van der Groen's class), in 1979 together with Luk Perceval and Johan Van Assche.

Lucas Vandervostis is an actor, director, teacher, and founder and (former) artistic director of the theatre company De Tijd, which he co-founded in the 1980s.

Dabaret Salu or Salu was a cabaret program by Vandervost and Sam Bogaerts, created in the drama department of the Antwerp Conservatory. With this, they won the Cameretten cabaret festival.

Vandervost and Bogaerts, together with Luk Perceval, Warre Borgmans, and Johan Van Assche, founded Het Gezelschap Van De Witte Kraai, which later became De Tijd. The group introduced 'thinking speaking' as a reaction to the 'shouting and walking around' in the city theaters.
