Biography

Maurice Vandair was born on June 24, 1905 in Tournan-en-Brie, Seine-et-Marne, France. He was a writer, known for La belle de Cadix (1953), Personal Column (1939) and Traumschöne Nacht (1952). He was married to Désirée Picard. He died on December 5, 1982 in Marseille, Bouches-du-Rhône, France.

Lyricist of Henri Betti from 1941 to 1946 for which he wrote the lyrics of many hits like "La Chanson du Maçon" (1941), "La Fête à Neu-Neu" (1943) and "Le Régiment des Mandolines" (1946).

In 1948, Freda Betti participated in a radio program broadcast on Paris Inter where she sang "Le Bonheur du Monde" which was written in 1946 by Maurice Vandair (lyrics) and Henri Betti (music).

His song "Sérénade au Nuage" (music by Henri Betti) was adapted into Italian by Alberto Larici with the title "Serenata ad una Nuvola".

In 1942, he won the Grand Prix de la Chanson Française with Maurice Chevalier and Henri Betti for "La Chanson du Maçon".
