Joanna's father was an actor / director Andre Van Gyseghem and her mother was the actress Jean Forbes- Robertson who also wrote children's stories. Joanna was married to the actor Ralph Bates and has a daughter Katie. She is now married to Terrence Hillyer and they are hooked on skiing so are more likely to go for a Winter holiday rather than a Summer one
