Biography

Dirk is a director, writer and producer with vast international experience and a long track record on many international productions. Specialized in difficult projects, remote territories and often called as a troubleshooter, Dirk's preferred areas of work are the Middle East, Africa and the Maghreb.

As a writer and director, his credits include feature films and television, documentaries, commercials and corporate films, alongside multiple theatre, opera and radio productions; he also is appointed to several international film and cultural festivals.

After many years in feature film, in the early 2000s Dirk decided to focus on factual filmmaking (documentary, industrial, corporate). He often works in remote and normally inaccessible areas of the world, such as the territories of Eastern Afghanistan, the Kashmir valley or the Rub Al-Khali desert ("Empty Quarter") in Saudi Arabia.

His new feature documentary "1979" is a bold investigation into on of the biggest secrets of modern history, and will be released in late 2017.

Born in Düsseldorf, Germany. Lives between Rome, Italy, and Berlin, Germany.

Graduated Director (Class of 1991) at the Italian National Academy of Dramatic Arts "Silvio D'Amico" and the Italian National Cinematographical Institute "Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia"
