Biography

Ramón del Valle-Inclán was born on October 28, 1866 in Villanueva de Arosa, Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain. He was a writer, known for Sonatas (1959), Love (1948) and Divinas palabras (1977). He was married to Josefina Blanco y Tegerina. He died on January 5, 1936 in Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña, Galicia, Spain.

His plays are what is known as "closet dramas", plays so elaborate in scale that they were intended only to be read. They could never be acted on any stage; they could probably only be done justice (scenically, anyway) on film.
