  • In 1947, Valentine played in his first movie, "Out of the Past," as Kirk Douglas's henchman. Thirty-seven years later, he had a small role in a remake titled "Against All Odds," as did Jane Greer, who had the female lead in the original film.
  • Born Volf or William Daixel in New York City, to Olga (Vagman) and Samuel Daixel/Daxil. His parents were Russian Jewish immigrants.
  • He appeared with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo in 1933 when he was just 14 and later used the names Val Valentinoff and Vladimir Valentinov with the Fokine Ballet and Mordkin Ballet. In 1944, he met the stripper and actress Lili St. Cyr in 1944, became her choreographer, and then her husband in 1946.
  • He is buried in the Cathedral Mausoleum, Valentino Shrine in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, Los Angeles County, California.
