Sally-Anne Upton

In the late 1980s/early 1990s Sally-Anne was a member of comedy group "The Natural Normans" ("Australia's leading drag kings"), with Denise Scott, Lynda Gibson and Lynne McGranger.
Revealed in a 2019 podcast that she almost left Wentworth after one particular scene in series 4 in the episode 'Prisoner' made her leave the set and have a talk with her agent..
Sally is a trained nurse who serves as a unit nurse on many tv projects.
Upton serves on the committee of the Victorian Actors Benevolent Trust or VABT.
Was working in the Australian production of Mary Poppins before receiving the call to join Wentworth (2013) during season 3.

When I first heard about the remake of Prisoner, I called my agent.
Discussing Wentworth episode "Prisoner": It was the only time I walked out of those gates and thought to myself 'I wouldn't want to do that, too often'.
Out of the 5 episodes I was supposed to do I ended up staying for four seasons.
When I went behind the camera as a unit nurse, I had a colleague come up to me on a show and say, "Aren't you terribly embarrassed by what you're doing?" I was floored, I said, "What do you mean?" He said, "You're an actor, and you're really good - why are you behind the camera?" I said, "Because there's no work at the moment and it's either this or go into a hospital - but at least I'm working around my crew.
It was really interesting, because when it came to my attention, my mind immediately went back to the time in Sydney when the fire happened at Luna Park. I was nursing at that time and I was travelling back from Wollongong, so I was listening to the radio driving home.
