Biography

Stefan Uhrik was born in 1955. He is a writer and director, known for Schröders wunderbare Welt (2006), Iba den (1989) and Filmopolis (1994). He is married to Hana Cielová.

Founded the Forum of Independents at the Karlovy Vary Int'l Film Festival (with Hana Cielová; in 1992).

Programme director of Febiofest (with Hana Cielová; since 2008).

Protested against the arrest of Jafar Panahi, detained on 1 March 2010. "Something is wrong when filmmakers are arrested. They should have, as everybody, their right for free expression".
