  • Irene Turner co-wrote (with Tommy O’Haver) The Most Hated Woman in America, a Netflix Original production which premiered at SXSW. Showcasing Melissa Leo as fiery atheist Madalyn Murray O'Hair, it gave voice to a long-forgotten fighter for freedom of speech and religion. Also appearing: Adam Scott, Peter Fonda and Juno Temple.

    Other collaborations with Tommy: the gritty true-life drama An American Crime. Starring Catherine Keener and Eliot Page, the film premiered at Sundance and received Golden Globe, Emmy and Writers Guild Award nominations. She also produced his Sundance-favorite gay romantic comedy Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss.

    Most recently, she and Tommy produced and wrote Lady Killer for Audible starring Fred Armisen, Erica Hernandez, Jesse Garcia, Hugh Dancy and Julia Sweeney, for which they were nominated for a 2026 Ambie Award for Best Scriptwriting.

    Other projects include work for Anonymous Content, Lifetime and Hart/Sharp.

    Separately, Irene directed and produced the multi-award-winning feature The Girls' Room, called "A terrific discovery" by the Los Angeles Times. It played 34 festivals worldwide before premiering on Showtime.

    She holds a BA from Stanford and an MFA in Film from the University of Southern California, as well as an MFA in Creative Writing from New York University.
