- Had planned to give up acting after her role in Grange Hill (1978) ended and study at 6th form college, but heard she had secured the role in EastEnders (1985) shortly before term was due to begin.
- In the late 1990s, after her character Michelle Fowler was written out of EastEnders (1985), she took the opportunity to retrain as a director. In this new role she is often credited as Sue Tully.
