Biography

Robert Tudawali was born on January 1, 1928 in Melville Island, Northern Territory, Australia. He was an actor, known for Jedda the Uncivilized (1955), Dust in the Sun (1958) and Whiplash (1960). He was married to Peggy Wogait and Nancy Tudawali. He died on July 26, 1967 in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia.

Australian filmmakers commemorate the career of Robert Tudawali, and have named an award after him. The Tudawali Awards are given out to Indigenous filmmakers who continue the filmmaking tradition of people like Robert Tudawali - the first Aboriginal star.
