Maria Tzompanaki

Maria Tzompanaki is a Greek actress and director with a distinguished career in theater, television, and music. She studied acting at the National Theatre Drama School and trained in dance, singing, and classical guitar. Her television credits include Oi Pantheoi (1977), Laoura (1980), The Witches of Smyrna (2005), Sasmos (2021), and numerous other series spanning decades. She has also directed the Sofia Symphony Orchestra and multiple stage productions, and teaches acting, physical expression, and cultural education for contemporary performers. In addition to her artistic work, Tzompanaki has been active in public service, serving as a municipal councilor and deputy mayor in Athens from 2002 to 2010, overseeing programs in school care, social responsibility, European initiatives, and the operation of municipal cinemas. She is president of the NGO ORFEUS and founder of the Cultural Center for Green Tourism "Margarites." Tzompanaki divides her time between Switzerland, Crete, and Athens.
