  • Trivia
Philip Truex wrote a book on gardening called The City Gardener which was published in New York by Alfred A. Knopf in 1963. In 1955 Truex was offered the part of Harry in the film The Trouble with Harry by Alfred Hitchcock. This was to be his final acting role. Initially he was excited because it was the title role. His excitement soon turned to disappointment when he learned that his part did not have any dialogue and he would have to play a corpse. Truex felt this was a sign that his acting career was dead so he decided to turn his hobby of gardening into a business, opening a garden shop called The City Gardener in New York City with his second wife Eve in 1956.
