Biography

-Pierre Marc Trudeau is an animator, director and screenwriter. He was born in Sherbrooke (Quebec, Canada) in 1961. From 1983 to 1986, he studied film at Concordia University in Montreal (Fine Arts, animation option). With a group of filmmakers, he founded Ciné-Clic to produce public service announcements. He went on to direct some 15 animated films, including "Last Call Blues" (1985) and "Buston Keater" (1986). Winner of the 1987-1988 NFB "Cinéaste recherché(e)" competition, he made his first professional film, "Enfantillage", in which he tackled the delicate issue of domestic violence. This moving film reveals the filmmaker's singular style, as he creates his puppets from construction paper. After training at the NAD Center, Trudeau began making his first film using Softimage software. "C'est Coucou! Monsieur Edgar", soon followed by "Opération Coucou". These two short films, featuring an endearing clockwork cuckoo named Edgar, take a witty look at fatherhood, adoption and filiation. After a stint in France as animator on the film "Ruzz et Ben" (2004), he produced and directed "Les Anges Déchets" (2008) in recycled objects and 3D animation, "Triptyque: Tripes, entrailles, viscères" (2012) and "Raised to be Hero" (2013). Pierre M. Trudeau's work, aimed at children, is distinguished by its finesse and its social commitment, free of any heavy-handedness.
