Dorothy Tristan was born on May 9, 1934 in Yorkville Heights, New York City, New York, USA. She was an actress and writer, known for Klute (1971), Scarecrow (1973) and The Looking Glass (2015). She was married to John D. Hancock and Aram Avakian. She died on January 7, 2023 in LaPorte, Indiana, USA.

A former Ford model.

She was married for 15 years to the director and editor Aram Avakian and they had two children: Alexandra Avakian and Tristan Avakian. She made her screen debut in Avakian's film "End of the Road".

Began her acting career on stage in the early '60s with a touring company production of "Marat/Sade" in which she essayed the role of Charlotte Corday.
