Richard Trank is an Academy Award winning documentary filmmaker whose work explores Jewish history and the lives of world figures.
Trank began his filmmaking career at Moriah Films, the film division of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, where he became the founding Executive Producer and Principal Writer/Director. Over more than two decades there, he wrote and directed sixteen documentary features, among them The Long Way Home (1997) and I Have Never Forgotten You: The Life & Legacy of Simon Wiesenthal (2007). His films drew leading actors as narrators, including Morgan Freeman and Sir Ben Kingsley, and in making them he interviewed multiple heads of state and cultural figures whose lives intersected with the stories he told. His Moriah film Never Stop Dreaming: The Life and Legacy of Shimon Peres (2018), narrated by George Clooney, began streaming as a Netflix Original in 2022.
He later founded Sea Point Films and Media, where he continues his work as a documentary filmmaker and Executive Producer.
Alongside his films, Trank has written opinion pieces on documentary filmmaking and Jewish history for publications including The Hill, The Jerusalem Post and The Hollywood Reporter.
