  • She met 'Meyer Levin' in 1947 and worked with him on a documentary . She married him in 1948 and wrote 15 novels and essays and a book about her husband's obsession with Anne Frank's Journal :'Les Maisons Hantées de Meyer Levin'.
  • Born in Paris to Polis Jewish artists Marek Szwarc and Guina Pinkus ,who had converted a year before her birth to Catholicism, she received a Catholic education . Horrified by France's defeat in 1940, she went to London and became a member of the Free French women's volunteers ¨Corps Féminin des Volontaires Françaises". She wrote her memoirs about that period in her book "Une Française libre". She was married in 1944 to Georges Henri Torrès, stepson of Léon Blum. Her husband died fighting a few months later.
