- Member of the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) since 2004.
- In 2004, while halfway through filming Glory Road (2006), he suffered renal failure, and had to fly home to New Zealand from the United States for treatment. He was replaced on that film by Jeffrey L. Kimball. The next year, he had a kidney transplant; the donor was filmmaker Kc Childs.
