- Received a lung transplant in 2000.
- Distant cousin of Dallas police officer J.D. Tippit who was murdered by Lee Harvey Oswald shortly after Oswald assassinated President John F. Kennedy in November, 1963 in Dallas Texas. Wayne Tippit also had a small role as FBI Agent Frank in the 1991 film "JFK". Additionally in the first season of "The X Files" Tippit co-starred in the episode "Jersey Devil" which series star David Duchovny later played J.D. Tippit in the 1993 film "Ruby".
