In
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) she did the stunt for
Lenore Aubert, playing Dr. Mornay, in which
Mornay is thrown through the window by the monster. When the shot was
first done Miss Aubert, after being thrown through the window, came
flying back in, crashing into
Glenn Strange, playing the monster, and causing
him to break his ankle. When the scene was reshot Helen doubled for
Miss Aubert and
Lon Chaney Jr. doubled for Strange. This time, when she was
thrown through the window the breakaway candy glass sprayed into her
eyes and she had to be rushed to the hospital.
