  • Jo Throckmorton is an award winning Director, Producer and 1st AD. As a Producer Jo was part of the team being recognized on the short-list of Oscar eligible entries for the Live Action Short Film category of the 97th Academy Awards. As a Producer/Director Jo has won multiple Emmy Awards and as a 1st AD was nominated in the 67th Annual DGA Awards for "Outstanding Directorial Achievement." Most recently, Jo led the production of the film, "Someone Saved My Life" as the Lead Producer and Line Producer - as well as the 1st AD during filming.

    With more than 30 years of work on set, he is a highly sought-after DGA 1st AD for commercial work. In addition to commercial work, Jo has also led the production of large scale specialty films such as the World War I experiential film, "The Meuse-Argonne Offensive." This film is installed at the American Cemetery in Romagne, France and is available widely via the internet.

    Jo is based in Bloomington, Indiana, and is a member of the DGA. He started his film career as the Promotions Manager (promotional item placement within the film) for John Sayle's movie, City of Hope. He worked closely with Maggie Renzi, Sarah Green, and Georgia Kacandes in the production office on this production. After working in New York on a few films he moved to Cincinnati, OH where he became involved in live television production and eventually network-affiliate newscasts as a director. He then moved to Bloomington, Indiana as a base of operations to continue working on national and international productions.
