Erika Thormahlen is a writer, producer and actor. She is the co-creator of Waffles + Mochi, a show about food produced by Barack and Michelle Obama's production company, Higher Ground Productions for Netflix. She is also known for her starring role as Ashley "Ash" Gordon on the NBC comedy-drama Just Deal.

Erika Thormahlen is a writer, producer and actor. She is the co-creator and executive producer of Waffles + Mochi, a mixed-media Netflix series about global food and cultures produced by Barack and Michelle Obama's production company, Higher Ground Productions, which IndieWire called "the Best Kids' TV Show in a Generation". Erika began her career as a commercial model and actress, starring in NBC's Y.A. comedy-drama, Just Deal, for three seasons. After receiving her BA in English and Creative Writing at UCLA and a masters in education from NYU, Erika went on to teach preschool before becoming a copywriter and creative strategist for over a decade working with brands and celebrities in the beauty, fashion, luxury, travel and lifestyle spaces in New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo. Her writing has also appeared in NYMag.com's The Cut, New York Family Magazine and Cup of Jo.
