- He was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Theatre Award in 2001 (2000 season) for Best Set Designer for The King and I production at the London Palladium.
- Won Broadway's 1996 Tony Award as Best Scenic Designer for "The King and I."
- He was awarded the A.M. (Member of the Order of Australia) in the 2005 Queen's New Years Honours List for his services to to the arts as a set and production designer for theatre, film, special events and opera, both nationally and internationally.
