Biography

Bobby Thomson was born on October 25, 1923 in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. He was an actor, known for It's My Turn (1980), Skint (2022) and Miracle Ball: The Hunt for the Shot Heard Around the World (2012). He was married to Elaine Thomson. He died on August 16, 2010 in Savannah, Georgia, USA.

Outfielder with the the New York Giants (1946-1953 & 1957[end]), Milwaukee Braves (1954-1957[start]), Chicago Cubs (1958-1959), Boston Red Sox (1960[start]), and Baltimore Orioles (1960[end--3 games]).

Hit the famous "Shot Heard 'Round The World" - the ninth inning three-run home run in the Polo Grounds' left field bleachers which allowed the New York Giants to rally and defeat the Brooklyn Dodgers in the 1951 National League playoff series.

Was selected to the National League All-Star team three times (1948, 1949 and 1952).

Made major league debut on 9 September 1946.

In 1952 led the National League in triples with 14.
