She has acted locally in New York, where she currently lives with her dog, Oliver, and in Connecticut, at The River Rep at The Ivoryton Playhouse, where she also runs the internship program and her parents and brother, Owen Thompson, are directors too. She has also appeared in several movie roles and as a guest star on Law & Order (1990).
