Biography

Christian Thielemann was born on April 1, 1959 in Berlin, Germany. He is an actor, known for Great Performances (1971), Karajan: the Maestro and His Festival (2017) and Bayreuther Festspiele - Die Show Lohengrin (2018).

German conductor who began studying piano, composition, conducting, and the viola while still a child. Became principal conductor of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf in 1985; Generalmusikdirektor at Nuremberg in 1988; principal guest conductor of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna in 1993; and music director of the Deutsche Oper, Berlin, in 1997.
