- Desmond Tester was born on February 17, 1919 in London, England, UK. He was an actor and writer, known for Sabotage (1936), Non-Stop New York (1937) and Nine Days a Queen (1936). He died on December 31, 2002 in Sydney, Australia.
- Appeared under the direction of one Oscar winner (Carol Reed) and three Oscar nominees (Alfred Hitchcock, Robert Stevenson and Bruce Beresford).
- Child actor, on stage from the age of 12. Acted in British films from the mid-1930's and had a postwar career on radio, stage and television. Made his niche in Australia, where he settled in the mid-1950's to become the host of several popular children's programs. He ended up in charge of children's programming at Channel Nine and eventually moved on to Reg Grundy Productions.
