    Her school literature teacher advised her to become an actress. And Natalya Tenyakova made up her mind - she applied to the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography. She got into the course of the famous teacher Boris Zon. She studied at the theater for a whole year in secret from her father. And only when the first successes appeared, she confessed. After graduating from the institute in 1966, she was accepted into the troupe of the Leningrad Lenin Komsomol Theatre, where she made her debut as Polly Peachum in The Threepenny Opera.

    In 1966, Natalya Tenyakova became known to the general public - after the release of the film Starshaya sestra (1967), in which she played the role of Lida, the younger sister of the main character, played by Tatyana Doronina. Also, the actress's strong works in cinema were the roles of Varvara Asenkova in Zelyonaya kareta (1967) and Sasha Vikhrova in Groza nad beloy (1968).

    In 1967, she became an actress at the Leningrad Bolshoy Drama Theater, where she debuted as Kleya in the play 'The Fox and the Grapes' and a few years later became one of the leading actresses of the Tovstonogov troupe.
