Teng Rujun belongs to a late bloomer, his artistic achievements exploded after the age of 40, and he contributed more than ten excellent movies in just ten years, but unfortunately because of a cerebral infarction, his acting career came to an abrupt end.

In addition to movies, Teng Rujun is also the singer of the theme song "Sister, Go Boldly" that is popular between the north and the south.

Teng Rujun faded out of the entertainment industry around 2000, and made guest appearances in "Beautiful Bai Yinna" and "The Story of the Traffic Station" in 2002 and 2005, and has been engaged in acting teaching since then, serving as Chen Hao's acting teacher, and is Chen Hao's Bole and mentor.

His breakthrough came in 1987 when he captivated audiences with his portrayal of Uncle Arhat in Zhang Yimou's masterpiece, "Red Sorghum.".

In his final days, Teng Rujun, unable to vocalize or convey his thoughts, managed to communicate with his family through a poignant message: "The fragrant tea must be hot." These poetic words became his last connection with the world.

In 1999, Teng Rujun further solidified his legacy by winning the prestigious Best Actor Award at the 19th China Golden Rooster Awards for his exceptional performance in the rural literary film "The Mountain, That Man, That Dog," helmed by director Huo Jianqi.

Teng Rujun's life took a challenging turn when he suffered a brain infarction. Consequently, he made the difficult decision to withdraw from future filming appointments, fearing any potential inconvenience it might cause to production crews.

He graduated from the acting department of the Central Academy of Drama in 1969, was first assigned to the Hebei Chengde Drama Troupe.

Off-screen, Teng Rujun made an indelible mark as an acting teacher when he discovered the exceptional talent of Chen Hao, a gift for which she remained eternally grateful throughout her life.

It can be said that he was one of the earliest Best Actor winners of the Golden Rooster Award and one of the most powerful veteran actors.
