Renny Temple has been married to Caren Kaye since November 15, 1980. They have two children.

Had two children with his wife Caren Kaye: Jessica Kaye Temple (born February 17, 1981) and his adopted son William Seong-Ho Temple, who was born in South Korea on November 6, 1986. William was murdered on October 9, 2010 at age 23 in Inglewood, California, shot and killed by a gang.

Graduated from Walter Johnson Senior High School in Bethesda, Maryland.
