Biography

Tefsen played her biggest television role between 1980 and 1993 as housekeeper Mien Dobbelsteen in the VARA comedy "Zeg 'ns Aaa". Although not initially intended, the series revolves around the housekeeper Mien and her husband Koos, rather than the female, single general practitioner with two children. Every week, a millions-strong audience heard Mien answer the phone with the famous "This is Doctor Van der Plóóóééégg's assistant!!" Tefsen did not audition for the role. Director Nico Knapper knew her from another series and saw in her the ideal Mien.

Carry Tefsen is a Dutch actress, presenter, singer, and painter.

In 1987, TROS launched the dating program Op goed geluk. Tefsen made her presenting debut on Dutch television with this program. She hosted the program for five seasons, until 1992.

In 1968, she played the "star role" (according to the newspaper De Tijd) of Fromme Sarah in "Anatevka" with Lex Goudsmit and Enny de Leeuwe. This was followed by the role of Aldonza/Dulcinea in "The Man from La Mancha" with Guus Hermus and Lex Goudsmit.

In 2012, Tefsen received a royal decoration. She was appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau. She received the royal distinction for her contribution to the Dutch drama, theatre, and television world, with the citation that she has provided the Dutch people with "unforgettable moments.".
