He was most famous villain in Turkish cinema.

He had no formal acting training, and his start in movies was a story unheard of. In the 50's, yet another Turkish film was being made on location. People around the neighborhood had gathered to see their favorite stars. Erol Tas was actually a construction worker, spending his lunch hour watching the shooting like everybody else. However, a few young local thugs started harassing the crew and the actors. Tas got very angry, and beat up the thugs by himself. The director of the movie was surprised and very pleased by this voluntary act of protection, and offered Tas a bit part in the next shoot, as a means of thanks.

So Erol Tas, the construction worker became Erol Tas, the actor. A few years later he'd start winning awards, and would go on to have a career of over 250 movies.
