I think it allowed us to sit and watch telly with our family or in fact sneak a look at it when you weren't meant to and consequently scare the living bejesus out of yourself - and I say that as I'm still scared of the Yeti. And I think there was something for everyone. Everyone's got a window to a particular Doctor that does a particular thing for you. It was great telly.
- Over the last 75 years, the reasons why the BBC have banned songs has changed radically with the times. It's unthinkable now that Formby's cheeky double entendres or Frankie's celebration of gay sex would be censored.
