Biography

Takak Bala is known for Mantra Shakti (1935), Bishabriksha (1922) and Chup (1931).

Tarakbala was known and sometimes credited as Miss Light because she performed as a child artiste on the stage once with small bulbs lighting her whole body (as required for the role).

She was married to the famous actor/singer/musician Krishna Chandra Dey, but was left helpless after his death. She quit the stage to look after her only son, who unfortunately, predeceased both parents. With no one to look after her at an advanced stage, she was given shelter by the two sons of Renubala, until her death.

She was the first screen Parbati (Paro) of Sarat Chandra Chatterjee's several versions of Devdas (1928).
