Biography

Michael Tabb

Mini bio

  • Text: Michael Tabb is a decade-long WGA member and writer who attended USC, received a BFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and did his post graduate work at UCLA's School of Film & Television. In recent years, he has written multiple screenplays for Universal Studios and finished a director's draft of his original script "The Uncatchable Cowgirl Bandits of Nottingham, Texas" on which he has been the only writer for Producers Paul Schiff (Young Guns, Rushmore) and Intrepid Pictures (The Strangers, Safe House). Michael has developed projects for Disney Feature Animation, The Canton Company at Warner Brothers, Imagine Entertainment, Paradox Entertainment, Mandeville Films, Producers Lawrence Bender, Branko Lustig, writer/director Jonathan Hensleigh, Director Mike Newell, comic book icon Stan Lee, and actor/producer Dustin Hoffman to name a few. His latest collaboration has been developing a new one-hour television pilot with Producer Sean Daniel (The Mummy franchise, Tombstone, Syfy's new series The Expanse), fellow writer Evan Spiliotopoulos (Hercules, The Huntsman, and Disney's Beauty & The Beast), and Director Thor Freudenthal (Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters, Diary Of A Wimpy Kid, TV's Flash and Green Arrow). Michael broke into the industry with his original drafts of the scripts "Troy" and setup his first screenplay "The Casanovas" before performing the final rewrite of the thriller Ring Around The Rosie. His draft landed actor Tom Sizemore, which secured a release by Sony Pictures. He refers to these early experiences as a crash course in how the industry of Hollywood filmmaking really works. He gives back by speaking about the business and craft of screenwriting at universities, serving on the WGA's Writers Education Committee, and co-creating the WGA's groundbreaking Mentor Program for its new members. He writes a column entitled "Script Notes" for Script Magazine, which is the foundation for his book. You can check his website for more details at www.MichaelTabbWGA.com. Michael Tabb does business under the banner of his company, Burning Tree Films, represented by agent Ryan Saul of APA, manager by Justin Silvera of Silvera Management, and entertainment attorney Darren Trattner of Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer et al.
