Sandor entered the film industry by chance in 1981. Living behind the Iron Curtain, he was cast to play the leading role in the Hungarian feature film "Time Stand Still," directed by Peter Gothar with cinematography by Academy Award nominee Lajos Koltai. The film has gone on to achieve cult status in Hungary since its release where it won the numerous awards. It has also been awarded worldwide recognition, including the prestigious 1982 "Youth Award" at the Cannes Film Festival, "Best Foreign Language Film" at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, and "Best Director Award" at the Tokyo International Film Festival in 1985. Sandor studied German Philology and Literature after which from 1986 until 1991, he attended the German Film & TV Academy (DFFB) in West-Berlin and directed several feature films ("Stowaways," 1991, chosen in the Official Program of the Venice Film Festival, "The Great Post Office Robbery," 1993). In 1989, he founded Trans-Film and was attached as controlling shareholder until 1995. He co-produced a number of feature films, including "Schwarzfahrer" ("Black Rider") by Pepe Danquart, winner of the 1994 Academy Award For Best Live Action Short Film. From 1996, Sandor worked as Executive Producer on a wide range of European co-productions, among them the multi-award winner German-Hungarian-Swiss-French production "Satanstango" by Bela Tarr, and the German-French co-production "Ne Fais Pas Ca" by Luc Bondy. In 2004, Sandor formed Intuit Pictures as a film, television and music production company with a distribution and publishing arm. Intuit produces new media content for Peter Greenaway's Tulse Luper Network. Sandor's emphasis has been mainly on producing international feature films with meaningful content and cast. Sandor has a clear focus on artistic excellence and innovation by co-producing highly visionary films such as "The Tulse Luper Suitcases" trilogy by Peter Greenaway, from which "Part 1-The Moab Story" starring Debbie Harry and Franka Potente, was chosen in the Official Competition in the Cannes Film Festival in 2003, "Part 2 -From Vaux to the Sea" starring Isabella Rosselini and was chosen as part of the Official Program of the Berlin International Film Festival in 2004. "Part 3 - From Shark to Finish" starring Ornella Muti and was chosen in the Mostra Venice Festival in 2005. Other European co-productions include "Crusade In Jeans," an adventure film adapted from the bestseller by Thea Beckmann and directed by the Academy Award nominee Ben Sombogaart, starring Emily Watson and Benno Führmann, and was chosen to be included in the Official Program of the Berlin International Film Festival in 2007. Recent movies include "The Door," directed by world renowned Academy Award Winner Istvan Szabo ("Mephisto"), starring Helen Mirren and Martina Gedeck; "Le Grand Cahier" ("The Notebook"), an adaption of the French cult novel by Agota Kristof and directed by Janos Szasz, starring Ulrich Matthes and Ulrich Thomsen; and "Golden Christall Karlovy Vary 2013," which was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2014.

Since 2016 Sandor lives in Los Angeles and in Berlin and develops new TV shows and features with his new entity Monbijoufilms.
