  • Long-term music and television industry executive and producer, having been a VP at MTV in the 1980s, then moving to Chrysalis Records and later EMI (where he signed Counting Crows and Stone Temple Pilots). Sykes was later President of cable network VH1, then transitioned into CEO/executive positions in radio with CBS and iHeartMedia. He has served as Chairman of the Board of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, and on the board of directors of Madison Square Garden Entertainment, MSG Networks, Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, and Product (RED), an organization founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa. in 2014 Sykes was awarded the T.J. Martell Foundation Lifetime Music Industry Achievement Award, presented to him by his longtime friend President Bill Clinton. In 2019 he was inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame.
