Biography

Bruce Sweeney was born in 1962 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. He is a director and writer, known for Excited (2009), Last Wedding (2001) and Dirty (1998).

I think I've already done every major sexual dysfunction there is to talk about. I don't think there's anything left.

(on 'The Crimes of Mike Recket') I'd say this is a neo-noir, but not in the conventional sense. I've tried to subvert genre. It's the story of how one mistake leads to the next - which is very noir - but there is no typical femme fatale.

I think the common point between noir and my film is the grifter mentality You know, tie that into the world financial collapse in '08 and you get these grifters thinking on their feet - and when they do that, they rip people off.

Things are changing all the time. Even to see the evolution of a shoot: from trucks and crew and food and people revolving around one camera. Now you shoot with three cameras and a skeleton crew. The whole model has changed, and that's exciting - because there's nothing worse that things staying the same.

[on 'The Dick Knost Show'] I'm a sports-talk junkie. So when we decided we needed a project to keep us from going insane in the winter, I needed to do research - and I'm lazy - so spinning a narrative about a sports-talk show seemed like a good idea.
