E.W. Swackhamer was born on January 17, 1927 in Middletown, New Jersey, USA. He was a director and producer, known for The Dain Curse (1978), Family (1976) and McCloud (1970). He was married to Bridget Hanley and Margaret Woodward (Gretchen) Shane. He died on December 5, 1994 in Berlin, Germany.

Father of Ten Eyck and Elizabeth Swackhamer with his first wife. Had two daughters, Bronwyn (born 3 March 1971) and Meagan with second wife Bridget Hanley.

Was a director on In the Fold (1996) at the time of his death.

His first wife was the daughter of the late humorist Ted Shane.
