- As an Indian American girl growing up in small-town Colorado, writer-director Shilpa Sunthankar learned everything she knows from a steady diet of eighties Hollywood, Hindi musicals, and a hefty side of world cinema.
The features Shilpa is developing include coming of age dramedy "Generation Loss;" and "Continental Divide," a dynamic outdoor thriller taking place on the U.S- Mexico border, which earned her the SAGIndie Fellowship to attend the 2019 Stowe Story Lab; and "Seeta's Demon," which was showcased at the C3 Conference at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific American Film Festival.
Her award-winning short films include "A Day In Color," which is playing at the Hollywood Theatre in the Portland International Airport in 2024, "Working Lunch," "The Company of Thieves," and "Biography of an American Hostess."
Shilpa lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and is owner of PushStart Productions. When not crafting award-winning work, Shilpa is on her bicycle.
