In 2009, she was given the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and in 2010, Time magazine called her one of the Top 5 Fashion Icons of the Decade. Her brother, Robert "Bobby" Sui, is the CFO of her brand, and her niece is model and actress Chase Sui Wonders.
