Biography

K.E. Ståhlberg was born on November 30, 1862 in Kuhmoniemi, Finland. K.E. was a producer and director, known for Margaretaa ajetaan takaa (1912), Salaviinanpolttajat (1907) and Finnland (1911). K.E. died on June 27, 1919 in Helsinki, Finland.

Mr K.E. Ståhlberg opened the second stationary cinema in Finland April 3, 1904. The cinema, named 'Maailman Ympäri - Världen Rundt', was located in the same theatre where the first, short lived, cinema in Finland was founded (Mikonkatu 5, Helsinki).

Mr K.E. Ståhlberg was a pioneer of the Finnish film industry and distribution. He was the first Finnish organizer of film displays launching January 21, 1897 in Helsinki. He instituted the commercial film production in Finland, producing periodical news films through his photography shop 'Atelier Apollo' from 1907 onward. He also produced the first Finnish narrative film, Salaviinanpolttajat (1907).
